The mega IPL 2022 auction will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. IPL 2022 will see 10 teams clashing for the top prize of the Indian Premier League trophy. This tournament will have 74 matches including the league phase and the playoffs and the tournament is expected to begin in March this year, possibly to be held in India.
A report suggested that several top players from England and Australia are thinking of dropping out of the auction due to bio-bubble fatigue. Players like Ben Stokes, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are still in doubt over participating in the next season of IPL. While England Test captain Joe Root has already made himself unavailable for the auction as he wants to focus on Test cricket.
However, Australia and England players who had been mulling over entering the IPL 2022 mega auction have been given a lifeline as the Board of Control for Cricket in India has extended the deadline of giving their names in the auction up to January 20 for enrollment in the mega auction.
Starc had recently hinted at taking part in the upcoming IPL mega auction but as per Cricbuzz, his participation is now in doubt. “I’ve got two days to get my paperwork in, so that might be something to do today before training. I’ve not put my name down just yet, but I’ve got a couple more days to decide on that. It’s certainly on the table regardless of what the schedule has got coming up,” the Australian pacer had said after the conclusion of Ashes 2021-22.
