Breaking News: Novak Djokovic’s Visa Cancelled Again!

Novak Djokovic, the former World no. 1 has had a bad start to his 2022. Last week he won a court battle to stay in Australia without getting vaccinated and without any visa cancellations. Now, the Morrison government has used their power and right to revoke his visa yet again post his straight out refusal to get vaccinated.

Australia as a country has banned entry for any person without vaccination due to the spread of the Covid-19 variants. Now, with Djokovic given medical exemption by the Australian Open, the government have finally ended the whole situation by revoking Djokvic’s visa due to lack of vaccination.

Australian Immigration minister Alex Hawke said, “Today I exercised my power under section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so.

This decision followed orders by the Federal Circuit and Family Court on 10 January 2022, quashing a prior cancellation decision on procedural fairness grounds.

In making this decision, I carefully considered information provided to me by the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force and Mr Djokovic.

The Morrison Government is firmly committed to protecting Australia’s borders, particularly in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I thank the officers of the Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Border Force who work every day to serve Australia’s interests in increasingly challenging operational environments.”

This means that the opponent Djokovic was drawn against in the first round of Australian Open will be given a free win to move ahead as the defending champion prepares to leave Australia.

Ronaldo Rejects Anything Below Top 3

The Manchester United Striker Cristiano Ronaldo has acknowledged Manchester’s poor form and current standing at 6th place in the Premier League. The team is also set to face defending La liga Champions Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16, which is a daunting task in itself.

Ronaldo said, “I think to build up good things, sometimes you have to destroy a few things. So why not – new year, new life and I hope that Manchester [United] can be the level that the fans want. They deserve that.”

“We are capable of changing things now. I know the way but I’m not going to mention it here because I don’t think it’s ethical on my part to say that. What I can say is we can do better – all of us. Manchester [United] belongs to important things, so we have to change that.

“I don’t want to be here to be in sixth place, or seventh place, or fifth place. I’m here to try to win, to compete. I think we compete but we are not yet in our best level. But we have a long way to improve and I believe if we change our mind, we can achieve big things.”

“Not easy to be honest. We changed Ole, then [Michael] Carrick [caretaker manager], then this new coach. It’s difficult when you change so much, it’s always tough.”

“It’s always sad and tough. Ole used to play with me before and now he was the coach. A fantastic person. When he left everybody was sad, but it’s part of football. But I’m looking forward to it. We have to work hard, we have to be together as players. We know we are not in the best moment, but I believe with working hard we can achieve important things, even this year.”

Proteas Witness Pant’s Blend of T20 & Test Cricket

Rishabh Pant swung his bat all across the ground in Cape Town on Day 3 as he fired up Indian fans all around the world with his incredible century.

After Rahul and Mayank departed late on day 2, it was upto Pujara and Kohli to hold down the fort for the team, however with Pujara’s quick wicket followed up by a big bouncer to take out Rahane as well, South Africa had the clear advantage.

Alas, Pant proved to be damaging for the Proteas as he went on to score his century even with his crease partners walking and out faster than Ussain Bolt at the olympics. Pant combined his T20 and test mentality to show everyone his own style of cricket last night in a beautiful show.

Eventually India ended up losing all their wickets with Pant being the last man standing at the crease with India’s total and lead up to 212 runs.

South Africa’s Makram and Elgar came out to bat with quite some time left on Day 3 as Makram quickly departed and Elgar also followed after a 30 run stint at the pitch.

The day’s play ended with South Africa on 103 runs with 2 wickets gone. Day 4 will be crucial with India trying to bowl out South Africa to create history in Cape Town and South Africa trying to chase down the target to continue their dominance over India in South Africa.

Captain Yash Dhull on India’s Under 19 World Cup Campaign

India’s under 19 captain Yash Dhull and the coach Hrishikesh Kantikar have come out and talked about India’s preparations ahead of India’s campaign for the Under 19 World Cup.

“The primary quality that you need is to have the respect of your players,” Hrishikesh Kanitkar, the India Under-19 coach, said on the eve of the start of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. “Without that, you can be a good player but you won’t be able to do your job as a captain. That’s what Yash has got – he’s got the respect of the team. The other strength is that he is fluid in situations, he is able to take tough calls on the field when it’s needed.”

“Every time when fielding, when a captain goes in, he can’t be told to do things like in school cricket. He needs to make those decisions and Yash is up for it. He backs himself and does what that situation needs from him. He is pretty instinctive, and his instincts are fine-tuned for this job.”

“It can be difficult, but it’s how you look at it. You have to be realistic about setting goals in that one-and-a-half months, and as long as you get your head around the fact that you have 45 days with the team, you find solutions. It is a challenge but what we need to realise is, this is the norm now. So it is better to get used to it, get your head around the fact that this is the reality now, and then move on from there.”

DCMS Report Demands English Cricket to Clear Up Racism

Recently, the Yorkshire cricket club was stained with racism attacks and claims made by one of its own players in Rafiq. Now after hearings and investigations before the Ashes series, the DCMS committee have released statements demanding English cricket to stop racism and end the chains that persist around England in some clubs.

Rafq also made comments after the release of statements saying, “All I wanted to do was play cricket and play cricket for England and live my dream and live my family’s dream,” Rafiq told the hearing. “Do I believe I lost my career to racism? Yes I do.”

“It is evident to us that there is a deep-seated issue of racism in cricket,” the report stated. “More pertinent, it is evident to Yorkshire Country Cricket Club and the England and Wales Cricket Board that there is an issue of racism in cricket.”

“We, like the minister, are watching closely and fully intend to ensure that cricket cleans up its act,” the report stated. “We recommend that the government ensures that any future public funds for cricket are dependent on continuous, demonstrable progress in getting rid of racism in both the dressing rooms and on the stands.”

“The powerful evidence given to this committee by Azeem Rafiq convinced us that his story was typical of an endemic problem across the whole of cricket,” Julian Knight, the DCMS chair, said. “We commend him for having the courage to blow the whistle on unacceptable and discriminatory behaviour.”

Real Madrid Sink Barcelona in Supercopa Thriller

Last night FC Barcelona and Real Madrid faced off against each other for the 281st time in their long and rich rivalry. They faced each other for the first time outside Spain as the match was played in the Saudi Capital of Riyadh.

As expected Real Madrid did not give Barcelona a lot of opportunities and played tremendously well in the 90 minutes to get their 2 goals. Real took the lead both times with a 1-0 and a 2-1 scoreline.

Barcelona were always going to be the chasing side but no one expected so much attacking finesse from the young side as soon as the whistle blew. Barcelona managed to equalise both times in the 90 minutes to send the match into the extra 30 minutes.

However, Barcelona’s defence just couldn’t keep up with Real Madrid’s well Synced attack by the first half of the extra time as Valverde struck the ball into the net to get Real the El Clasico win in Saudi Arabia.

Even with the likes of Luuk de Jong, Araujo, Pedri, Gavi and Ferran Torres, Barcelona just couldn’t match Real Madrid’s well gelled unit to score enough and get the win.

Now Real Madrid await the winner of the second semi finals between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club to see who they will be facing on Sunday night in Riyadh for the Supercopa de Espana trophy.

Breaking News: Australian Open Draw Revealed

With the Djokovic controversy still ongoing, the Australian Open committee isn’t waiting anymore. The Australian Open have revealed their draw for this year’s first grand slam with the likes of Djokovic, Nadal, Tsitsipas and more already in the tournament.

As far as the qualifiers go, the likes of Murray, who has made it to the quarter finals, will have a chance to make it to the main tournament. The draw has spots open for qualifier winners.

The draw this time has the likes of Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev Shapapolav and the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the same side. Meanwhile the other side consists of Ruud, Murray, Sinner, Dimitrov, Tsitsipas and Medvedev.

Djokovic will be facing fellow Serbian, Kecmannovic to start off his campaign, while Nadal will be facing American Giron in the first round. With the two 20 time grand slam champions both seemingly doing very well for their ages, it’ll be interesting to see if the two can turn back the clock and make it a Nadal vs Djokovic Semi-final in melbourne.

It’ll be interesting to see how Tsitsipas and Medvedev fare as they are close in the draw and probably could be facing each other much sooner than the semi-finals.

Silverwood Backed By Root Post Poor Ashes Display

Joe Root has come out to back Chris Silverwood post England’s poor performance in this year’s Ashes series after Australia beat the English side pretty easily in the first 3 matches of the Ashes.

The English side just couldn’t get their batting line-up in form and in perfect balance as they crumbled up against a new and very dominant Australia.

“Yes I would,” Root said, when asked if he would like Silverwood to remain in charge. “It was a difficult week for the group of players with him not being around and it must have been very difficult for him.”

“But I think the performances we put in during the first three games, I feel we’ve let him and the coaches down to a degree. We’ve not played anywhere near the level we’re capable of. It’s a chance to do that this week.”

“I think he’s very calm, he has the respect of the guys and he’s got a desperation to see everyone do well or up-skill the players as best he can,” Root said. “He’s had a very difficult time of it with the environments we’ve been living in, trying to manage winning matches with bubble environments away from home, and multi-format players trying to prepare for an Ashes and a World Cup. It’s very difficult”

“For a long time we’ve not been able to put our best teams out because we’ve been constantly trying to make sure from a mental wellbeing point of view everyone is looked after properly, because of the schedule we’ve dealt with over two years.”

“Time is ticking but I have a lot to weigh up,” Root said. “Will it have a negative impact on me playing Test cricket? If I don’t think so then I will put myself in the auction. But I will never do anything that will detract from playing Test cricket for England. It’s so important to make sure that is the priority for me and other players as well.”

Bumrah’s Five-For Gives India the Advantage

On day 2 of the last and deciding test match between India and South Africa in Cape Town, South Africa started out on the pitch with bat in hand as they tried to chase down the target set by India at 223 runs.

The Indian bowling line-up did pick up wickets regularly between the start and the second innings as they took out Makram, Keshav Maharaj and Dussen. However, the biggest wicket came when India managed to get Buvuma as Petersen was left on the pitch without any good partners to back him up. This followed a batting crumble as India took the upper hand by stopping South Africa from getting to the target. South Africa lost their wickets with 14 runs still to get as India were called back to bat.

The bowling performance by India was incredible. With the likes of Yadav and Shami getting a couple of wickets each and Lord Thakur getting one of his own, Bumrah led the pack with his insane five-for which included the wickets of Elgar, Makram, Jansen, Petersen and Ngidi.

The Indian batting line up started as usual with Agarwal and Rahul at the top. This time around however the opening bowlers knew what to do and quickly got the two opening wickets. However, captain Kohli and the modern wall Pujara held down the fort for India as they ended the day at 57 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. India now have a lead of 70 runs as they begin Day 3.

Breaking News: Harris out, Khawaja In as Opener

The returning Usman Khawaja performed splendidly in Sydney as he battered the English bowling attack with a century in each innings to get Australia to an enormous total each time.

The Australian side backed him up with a great performance, however failed to get their fourth straight win in a row in this series as England managed to claw their way to a draw. Now, with the last test almost here, the teams are heading to Hobart as they prepare for a day night pink ball test to end this series.

Australia have announced their squads for the last match with only one major change. Marcus Harris has been dropped to retain Usman Khawaja as an opener. This means alongside Warner, Khawaja will open the batting with Head dropping down to the middle order probably.

“I think he knew was it was coming,” Cummins said on Thursday. “The message to Harry is we think he is going really well. It’s really tough on him. It’s not too often someone comes in and hits two hundreds in the same game. But I thought Marcus has been really good I think he’s been growing with each game he was a huge part in how we won that MCG Test with a crucial innings.”

“So he’s certainly part of the future. We’ll keep investing in him. I think he’s been going really well.”

“No, absolutely not,” Cummins said. “I think Uzzy and Davey have really earned that spot to open the batting but the reality is they’re both 35 years old. So whilst that doesn’t mean anything in the short, short term there will be a day where we need to find some other openers. Marcus is still absolutely got a huge future with us. He’ll be around the squad. I think there might even be an Australia A tour go overseas in the off-season. Of course, there’s heaps of Shield cricket and county cricket as well so for sure this is probably more a case of someone demanding a spot as opposed to Marcus losing his spot.”
