Real Madrid look like they have returned to peak form with this beautiful squad of past and future champions. Last night the defending La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid took a trip down to the Santiago Bernabeu to have a match with the current table toppers Real Madrid.
The Madrid derby opened up nicely with both teams showing some aggression off the bat. Real drew first blood with a cross into the box by the sensation Vinicious Junior to the in form French-man Karim Benzema. The striker took the half volley and put it in the net convincingly.
With Real leading, Atletico upped their aggression as expected, but it wasn’t enough to get Griezman or Felix a clear shot at goal. Ninicious crossed the ball once again in the second half on the other side of the pitch, but this time with all whites being defended nicely, the fall stumbled through to Asensio who made sure to put the game to bed with a stiff strike.
Suarez did come on late in the game at around 70 minutes gone, but as for Griezman and Felix before him, he couldn’t get a clear shot at goal. The closest the trio got was a shot on target by Felix at Real’s near post as the former Atletico player, Cortois saved it with his face.
On the other side of the country, Barcelona and Osassuna went head to head with Barcelona surprisingly leading for 90% of the game. First they led 1-0 in the beginning then as quickly Osassuna equalised, Barcelona’s Ezzalzouli took the lead. The two teams went all the way into the late 80s with a 2-1 scoreline with Barcelona in the driver’s seat. However a late strike from Osassuna equalised the match at 2-2. Barcelona now stands at 8th place, a point below Valencia.
Real top the table with almost 20 more points than Barcelona as the defending champions Atletico Madrid stand at 4th well behind their city rivals Real.
