India have beaten Australia by 96 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 to reach the final of tournament. India reached its fourth consecutive U-19 World Cup final on Wednesday.
Earlier, India opted to bat first after winning the toss, knowing it wasn’t the easiest of pitches to bat on. Australian pacers bowled well in the opening powerplay, India lost two early wickets at 37/2. However skipper Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed combined for the third wicket to steady the ship. Captain Yash Dhull led the side from the front and scored a brilliant 110 in the same number of balls. And vice captain Shaik Rasheed, who scored 94.
After the duo was dismissed off successive balls in the 46th over, ‘keeper Dinesh Bana and Sindhu struck a few lusty blows to give the perfect finishing touches to the innings. Finally India posted 290 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. Chasing a record target, Australia lost their in-form opener Teague Wyllie . Following his dismissal Campbell Kellaway and Corey Miller showed some resistance yet Angkrish Raghuvanshi end to their show by trapping Miller LBW on 38(46). Kellaway too departed soon on 30(53) and ever since his dismissal Australia kept losing wickets in regular intervals and were eventually bundled out on 194 in 41.5 overs.
This is the eighth time that four-time champions India have made it to the final of the U-19 World Cup, the most by any team. India will now face England in the final, who defeated Afghanistan in their semi-final clash.
