India beat Bangladesh in the quarter-finals of the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 to seal the place in the semi-finals. This was the 7th time India stormed past the last eight stages in the history of the U-19 World Cup. India will face Australia in the semi-final on February 2.
India have beaten defending champions Bangladesh by five wickets. Winning the toss, India opted to bowl, while Bangladesh was off to a shaky start, losing three wickets with 14 runs on the board. India’s bowler Ravi Kumar ripped through the top order of Bangladesh team. He had taken just one wicket in the tournament but finished with figures of three for 14 from seven overs here, as he dismissed the top three Bangladesh batters. However, just two other Bangladesh batters reached double figures and they were eventually all out for 111.
Chasing a small target of 112 to win, India lost opener Harnoor Singh early but other opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shaik Rasheed batted well . They put their team into command by stitching a 50-run stand for the second wicket. The stand eventually ended on 70 as Ripon Mondol dismissed Raghuvanshi on 44.
However, it appeared for a moment that another twist will come in this chase but it was not to be as skipper Yash Dhull (20) kept his calm and along with Kaushal Tambe (11) won the game for India. Kaushal finished the match off in style with a six over long on off spinner Rakibul Hasan.
