Yash Dhull hit a hundred from just 133 balls on his Ranji Trophy debut

India’s U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull on Thursday scores century on his Ranji Trophy debut. The right-handed batter hit a century for Delhi in Delhi’s match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

The 19-year-old reached the milestone in just 133 balls. Among India’s last 5 U-19 World Cup captains the Delhi batsman Dhull is the 4th India U-19 captain to smash a century on his first-class debut game since Prithvi Shaw’s knock for Delhi in 2016. Delhi were reduced to 7/2 while Dhull batted brilliantly in the match and he stood strong on one end. He added an amazing half-century partnership with Nitish and completed his half-century off 57 balls. Yash Dhull eventually got out for 113 in 150 deliveries after getting trapped LBW to Mohammed in the 50th over of the match.

Dhull’s century came on the back of his stellar form in the U-19 World Cup, The value of Dhull’s performance continues to climb. In the Under-19 World Cup, he was unstoppable, hitting 229 runs in four games, including a century against Australia in the semi-final. His efforts were rewarded with an IPL contract in the mega-auction, with Delhi Capitals selecting him for 50 lakh.

Meanwhile, Dhull aims to play for India in less than two years time. “I have hardly slept the last few days but it is not something I can complain about. What I have done till now is done, I need to focus on what lies in the immediate future,” Dhull was said.
