Sachin Tendulkar Reveals Why He Returned Kohli’s retirement gift

Former batsman Sachin Tendulkar recently recalled a heart-touching moment from his retirement when he had returned a gift given to him by Kohli.  Sachin said Virat gave him a sacred thread that was given to the Delhi cricketer by his late father.

During his last international game, which was a Test match against West Indies , Sachin Tendulkar received a special gift from Kohli, however, soon he returned it back to the latter. Master Blaster revealed the reason why he returned Virat Kohli’s gift. Tendulkar said, “I was sitting in one corner alone with a towel on my head and wiping tears and I was really emotional. And at that time, Virat had come to me and Virat gave me the sacred thread that his father had given him.” It was a wonderful gesture from young Kohli but given what it meant to him, Tendulkar said he just couldn’t take it as it was given to him by his late father as a blessing.

“And I kept that for a while and then returned that to him again. I said, ‘This is priceless and this has to stay with you and no one else. This is your property. And you should have it till your last breath.’ And I gave it back to him. So that was an emotional moment, something which will be always there in my memory, forever. “ Tendulkar said. Sachin conceded that it was one emotional moment that he had with Virat Kohli.

Kohli, also revealed the reason behind his choice of gift to Tendulkar. “We usually wear threads around our wrists. In India, a lot of people do. So my father gave one to me, which he used to have. So I used to keep that with me in my bag. And then I thought this is the most valuable thing I have. So, my father gave this to me and I couldn’t give you anything more valuable and I just want you know how much you have inspired me and what you mean to all of us and this is my little gift to you,” Kohli stated.

“We initially wanted to buy Kishan”: Muttiah Muralitharan has revealed

Sunrisers Hyderabad made some big signings at the auction. They purchase West Indies wicket-keeper batter Nicolas Pooran for Rs. 10.75 crores. The wicket-keeper has a big reputation in T20 cricket.

Pooran, who is now the most expensive West Indian buy ever at an IPL auction, could prove to be a game-changer in the middle order. He can attack both spin and pace and fortunately for Hyderabad. However, the left-hander has struggled for consistency over the years but there’s no denying the firepower he brings to the table. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s spin-bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan  has explained why the team bid a whopping INR 10.75 crore to sign Caribbean wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran.

“I would say we’ve got 80 percent of our plans right. We didn’t get the remaining 20 percent right because we couldn’t acquire Ishan Kishan. Had we purchased him, it would’ve been a perfect squad.” Muralitharan said.

“As I said, we initially wanted to buy Kishan. But once his bid crossed our budget, we were forced to look for alternatives. We wanted an international wicketkeeper who would be available for all the games, so we thought Pooran was the right choice once Kishan slipped away,” he further added. Muralitharan has named young Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma as Williamson’s opening partnership.

“Abhishek was pretty much part of our initial plans. He was in and out of the side last season, but we want him to assume greater responsibility this time. We want him to open the batting alongside Kane. That will help us get a good left-hand, right-hand combination at the top,” said Muralitharan. Sunrisers Hyderabad also purchased South African batter Aiden Markram  (2.6 cr), Washington Sundar (8.75 cr), Rahul Tripathi (8.5 cr), Romario Shephard (7.75 cr), and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4.2 cr).

Yash Dhull hit a hundred from just 133 balls on his Ranji Trophy debut

India’s U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull on Thursday scores century on his Ranji Trophy debut. The right-handed batter hit a century for Delhi in Delhi’s match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

The 19-year-old reached the milestone in just 133 balls. Among India’s last 5 U-19 World Cup captains the Delhi batsman Dhull is the 4th India U-19 captain to smash a century on his first-class debut game since Prithvi Shaw’s knock for Delhi in 2016. Delhi were reduced to 7/2 while Dhull batted brilliantly in the match and he stood strong on one end. He added an amazing half-century partnership with Nitish and completed his half-century off 57 balls. Yash Dhull eventually got out for 113 in 150 deliveries after getting trapped LBW to Mohammed in the 50th over of the match.

Dhull’s century came on the back of his stellar form in the U-19 World Cup, The value of Dhull’s performance continues to climb. In the Under-19 World Cup, he was unstoppable, hitting 229 runs in four games, including a century against Australia in the semi-final. His efforts were rewarded with an IPL contract in the mega-auction, with Delhi Capitals selecting him for 50 lakh.

Meanwhile, Dhull aims to play for India in less than two years time. “I have hardly slept the last few days but it is not something I can complain about. What I have done till now is done, I need to focus on what lies in the immediate future,” Dhull was said.

“KL Rahul will open with Rohit Sharma in the T20 WC 2022” : Parthiv Patel

Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel believes premier batter Rahul will open the inning with Rohit at the ICC World T20 2022.  If Kishan is out of rhythm, he may not be the best option to partner with Rohit Sharma at the top. That being the case, KL Rahul  would be the best choice for India, as per Parthiv.

Patel has said that the Karnataka cricketer is a long-term opening option according to him whereas, Kishan allows Rohit to take a bit of time when he is in the right mind space.  “KL Rahul is a long-term opening option for me. When Rahul returns to the team, I think he will open the innings with Rohit. Personally, I feel he will open with Rohit in the T20 World Cup,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.

“Ishan Kishan is not a bad option when he is in rhythm. When he is in the right mind space, he allows Rohit to take a bit of time. But I think it will be Rahul and Rohit at the World Cup”, Parthiv added.

“Ishan Kishan was trying to hit the ball too hard instead of timing it. When he was playing cross-batted strokes, he was using the bottom hand so much that the face of the bat was closing. Instead, he could have shown some patience and played a few shots with a straight bat. But it just did not happen for him on the day,” Parthiv added.

Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra also picked Rahul as Rohit’s opener partner for the ICC World T20. “For me, this has been the No. 1 opening pair for quite some time. Of course, when it comes to options, India have innumerable ones and it is up to them which one to pick. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Venkatesh Iyer, Ishan Kishan – all are openers. But for me, in T20Is, Rohit and KL Rahul are the best options as openers for the T20 World Cup,” Nehra added.

Virat Kohli convinced Rohit Sharma to go for review in 1st T20I vs WI

India cruised to a six wicket victory on Wednesday in Kolkata in the 1st T20 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, one of the incidents which is catching everyone’s attention. Rohit Sharma was once again assisted by Virat Kohli as the former captain urged his successor to take a review during the 1st T20
against West Indies.

During the 8th over of the West Indies innings when debutant Bishnoi’s googly went down the leg and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was quick to dislodge the bails. Even though there was a strong appeal for caught behind and stumping, umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal signalled a wide. Rohit meanwhile, being the skipper was unsure however Virat seemed convinced and he also convinced Rohit to take a review. Their whole conversation happened near the stump mics, fans could hear the whole dialogue between the two.

At a time when Rohit was flabbergasted by the umpire’s wide signal, Rohit can be clearly heard on the stump mic saying – “WIDE kya de raha hai yaar?” Kohli supported Bishnoi’s appeal and suggested to the Indian skipper that he heard two sounds. “Main bol raha hu, tu review le,” Kohli told Rohit. Rohit Sharma agreed to take the review but the square leg umpire had already obliged to the appeal made by the hosts.

The Ultra Edge confirmed the flat line when the ball had passed the bat. The umpire review also confirmed that there was a spike when the ball passed the pad. However, Chase was well inside his crease and the West Indies batter was allowed to extend his innings as the review went in the favour of the visitors.

Berrettini on Rafael Nadal and the Big Three

Mateo Berrettini the world no. 6 in the ATP rankings and semi finalist at this year’s Australian Open has made some comments about who he thinks the GOAT is in Tennis.

The debate is regarding the big three, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Some would argue Rafael Nadal is the true GOAT as he has reached the unfathomable achievement of 21 grand slams.

“I swear, there is no answer,” Berrettini told Pa Repubblica, per Sportskeeda. “After all, I have lost many times against both of them. Nadal is a [left-hander] and takes you wherever he wants, giving you the impression of letting you play more and in the end he beats you.

Djokovic just deactivates you, he’s a great counter-attacker. The two of them, along with Federer, are the greatest tennis players of all time, sublime athletes. This is enough to understand what it means to have them in front of you.”

“It is only a matter of time, it will pass,” Berrettini said. “The same was true with Nadal, at the beginning. People said – ‘But he looks like this, he plays with the (long) capri shorts’.

“I understand people who love myths, I don’t feel bothered on the pitch [by fans supporting the ‘Big Three’ in matches],” Berrettini continued.

“Maybe I too, if I were in the stands, would cheer for them. Because cheering on Nadal, Djokovic or Federer means being together with your memories, it means remaining attached to a part of your heart. I find it romantic.”

Mitchell Starc bowled most bizarre wide ball during 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka

During the third T20I between Australia and Sri Lanka, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc
bowled one of the weirdest no-balls that has ever been seen in the history of the game. He
bowled the most bizarre wide deliveries in the third T20I of the five-match series against Sri Lanka.

Mitchell Starc had a forgetful day in the third match of the T20I series between Sri Lanka and hosts Australia on Tuesday. The left-arm pacer, who missed the 2nd T20 match against Sri Lanka , delivered probably the worst ball of his career. The incident happened in the 18th over of the innings when Starc was bowling the last over of his spell.

Dasun Shanaka was the batter on strike, who was looking to churn out some quick runs. Starc steamed in to deliver the fifth ball of the over and tried to roll his fingers over the ball. However, his attempt to bowl an off-cutter went horribly wrong as the ball slipped out of Starc’s hands even Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was unable to stop the wide full toss from going to the boundary. While, the on-field umpire called it a no-ball as it was 3 metres high when it left Mitchell Starc’s hand.

Speaking on commentary, former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee compared the delivery to the infamous wide Steve Harmison  bowled with the first ball of the 2006-7 Ashes series. “No ball, free hit, four. It must have slipped out of the hands,” said the commentator on air. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ball go that wide! Probably was the off cutter,” another commentary remarked. Talking about the match, Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. They have now taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

PSL 2022: Ben Cutting took revenge after four years

The ongoing Pakistan super league season has been full of action, drama and entertainment. Notably, during the Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi encounter on Tuesday, Ben slammed Sohail for three back-to-back sixes and raised middle fingers of both hands.

Four years ago in a CPL match Tanveer was hit for a six previous ball , which he replied by Dismissing Cutting the next Ball and Gave a middle finger send off . Ben Cutting never forget that and finally he took his revenge after four years later during the 22nd match of Pakistan Super League.

It happened in the 19th over of the first innings as Peshawar Zalmi were on their way to post a competitive total onboard against Quetta Gladiators, when Sohali Tanvir came to bowl his last over and got smashed by Ben Cutting with 4 sixes in the over. Soon after the raining boundaries, Ben Cutting  showed a middle-finger gesture to Tanvir which later got heat when Sohail made the same gesture. The fans have started sharing their thoughts on this incident through the Twitter.

Sunil Gavaskar has picked Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s new captain

Former India openers Sunil Gavaskar believes Glenn Maxwell is the most suitable candidate to be RCB’s new skipper. Notably, Royal Challengers Bangalore have made some really exciting buys in the just-concluded IPL 2022 mega auction. Meanwhile, RCB are yet to name their captain.

In the auction, RCB found two names in Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik, who could become the next captain of the team in IPL 2022. However, Sunil Gavaskar has picked Australian all-rounder Maxwell to lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gavaskar feels giving Maxwell the additional responsibility will make him a better player and see him score more runs.

In a conversation with Sports Talk Gavaskar said ” “I think if Glenn Maxwell is given the responsibility then a different kind of Maxwell will be seen in IPL. Last year he batted brilliantly probably keeping the mega auction in mind, but he was retained after that, which was good, I guess, for him.”

“We have often seen that players who bat well but score 30-40 runs quickly and get out without getting the job done- especially when suppose the team requires 70 or 80 runs more. But when these same players are given a responsibility then they played well showing better shot selection. So if Maxwell is given the captaincy, he will score more and play better,” added Gavaskar.

Meanwhile, RCB’s Director Mike Hesson revealed his thoughts on the talks about Du Plessis leading the side, following Day 1’s action at the auction.Mike Hesson said, ‘We have not had that discussion yet. We have three great leaders now in the form of Maxwell, Virat, and Faf du Plessis. We are really happy with those three leaders, we also have Josh Hazlewood as a leader from a bowling point of view. So we are happy with the group, we will make a decision regarding captaincy after the auction’.
