Deepak Chahar fetched a colossal 14 crore by Chennai Super Kings to become the second-most expensive player so far this auction. While Prasidh Krishna and Lockie Ferguson bagged 10 crores each, going to RR and LSG, respectively, Josh Hazlewood was bought by RCB for 7.75 crore. Shardul Thakur also bagged big money as DC bought him for INR 10.75 crore.
Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL auction as he was sold for Rs 10 crore to Lucknow Super Giants. Other uncapped players Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma and Dewald Brevis earned big too.
KKR kept Shivam Mavi by paying Rs 7.25 crore, while SRH paid Rs 4 crore to get paceman Kartik Tyagi. The uncapped categories witnessed some massive bids, with SRH shelling out 6.5 cr for Abhishek Sharma and 8.75 crore for Rahul Tripathi. Then, Gujarat Titans spent INR 9 crore for Rahul Tewatia.
Sunrisers Hyderabad sprang a surprise by roping in Nicholas Pooran for a whopping 10.75 crore. Krunal Pandya and Mitchell Marsh were the other big picks after the IPL 2022 auction resumed. Delhi Capitals got a big bargain as they got David Warner for Rs 6.25 crore. Yuzvendra Chahal was bought for Rs 6.50 crore by Rajasthan Royals.
A total of 74 players were sold on the first day of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction. Ishan Kishan (₹15.25 crore), Shreyas Iyer (₹12.25 crore), Deepak Chahar (₹14 crore), Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel (₹10.75 crore) were some of the prominent names sold at the auction on the 1st day. Among the overseas cricketers, David Warner (₹6.25 crore), Mitchell Marsh (₹6.50 crore), Pat Cummins (₹7.25 crore), Quinton de Kock (₹6.75 crore), Jason Holder (₹8.75 crore), Faf du Plessis (₹7 crore) and Wanindu Hasaranga (₹10.75 crore) were among the big names sold.
