For the first time in IPL history none of Chris Gayel or AB De Villiers will part of an IPL season. T20 great Chris Gayle has decided to opt-out of the IPL 2022 auction as it marked the end of an era.
Chris Gayel holds several records in the tournament’s history including most centuries and the highest individual score – 175. He is the seventh highest run scorer of all time in the history of the tournament. While, the universe boss is at the fag end of his career but he has still announced his retirement and his unavailability for IPL 2022 has indicated that his big decision is around the corner.
The Universe Boss has been a star of the IPL since its inception. He has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings in his IPL journey. Last, he was played for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021. He also won the orange cap in 2011 and 2012 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Meanwhile one of his fans asked him which team he will be supporting in the next season, Gayle came up with two teams. The fans of Chris Gayle had asked him, “Which IPL team are you support ? ” responding to the fan’s query, the West Indies West Indies legend said “Two terms, because, I want a trophy from one of them, RCB and Punjab Kings”.
Notably, Pubjab Kings have retained only two players in Mayank Agarwal and young pacer Arshdeep Singh, they managed to get the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Shikhar Dhawan, Rahul Chahar, Kagiso Rabada, Odean Smith and Liam Livingstone.
On the other hand Royal Challengers Bangalore bought former CSK star Faf du Plessis. However they invested heavily in bowlers and all-rounders. retained a solid core in Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. They added some particularly strong options, especially on the bowling front, during the auction. They’ve got Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga as likely starters, but also the likes of Jason Behrendorff and David Willey as back-ups.
