BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the India Premier League 2022 is all set to be held in India. The group league of the tournament will be held across Maharashtra – Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune. While a decision on the playoffs venue will be taken at a later, yet Ahmedabad could be the front-runner.
“It will be held in India this year, until and unless COVID-19 hits the roof. As far as venues are concerned, we are looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra – Mumbai, and Pune. We will take a call on the venues for the knockout stages later,” Sourav Ganguly said . Notably last year, only 1st half of the Indian premier league were played in India before the tournament was taken to UAE again.
IPL 2022 will be of two months which is scheduled to start in the last week of March and will run till the end of May as confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah last month. IPL 2022 will see at least 74 league games with two new teams. Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad. The T20 league will take the field to take on a total of 10 teams.
IPL 2022 mega auction is not too far away. The BCCI confirmed that the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Total 590 cricketers will be going under the hammer during the two-day mega auction. The BCCI is expected to release the fixtures in the next few days.
