Real reason, why Mumbai Indian Not Retaining Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League. This is because they have one of the most strong core teams.

Hardik Pandya was a part of the Mumbai Indians since his debut in the IPL in 2015. He carries flair and swagger and rightly translates it into his style of play. His ability to soak in pressure and propel his team out of dicey situations established him as a dependable player for the Mumbai Indians. Hardik Pandya was part of 4 title-winning campaigns of Mumbai Indians, ever since the 2015 edition.  However Mumbai Indians not retained him for upcoming IPL season.

The 29-year-old all-rounder is not in favour of the Indian cricket team because of his injury. He has missed a major part of international cricket in the last two seasons because of injuries. But, Hardik is a proven match-winner. However,  the reports suggest Mumbai Indians were thinking about retaining Hardik Pandya, but they changed their plans as the all-rounder has not been bowling at all, either in international cricket or in the IPL in the recent past.

Hardik played 12 games in the 2021 season but scored just 127 runs at an average of 14.11 and hasn’t bowled a single ball in the last two seasons. His brother Krunal too has struggled, scoring just 143 runs in 13 matches at an average of 14.3 while taking just five wickets in the 2021 season

IPL 2022: R Ashwin slams former cricketers who are bashing IPL

Indian Premier League is the biggest T20 cricket league in the world at present. There have been many countries that have started their own T20 league, following the footsteps of IPL. However, IPL being the only T20 tournament with Indian cricketers’ presence along with the best of the overseas players, makes it the best franchise-based tournament in the world.

However, IPL has been blamed, every now and then, for its negative impact on international teams. For example, this year after losing Ashes, former England players and experts argued that English players priortising IPL has led to the decline of Test cricket in England. Meanwhile,Indian off-spinner Ravichandran
Ashwin
has come out bashing such criticism on his YouTube channel.

“IPL has been under the radar for so many years. Suddenly, some former cricketer will say something bad about IPL for no reason. Imagine the situation in 2008 or 2010. There were only 20-25 cricketers who would be there. Team India To represent in the Indian setup.” Ashwin further said that a few nations schedule their international fixture keeping IPL in mind. However, since the IPL is kicking off on March 26 this year in place of April 8/9 many teams will be suffering because of this.

“Lawrence Booth (English journalist) had tweeted about IPL fixtures saying it takes almost one-third of the year. Even the English Premier League happens and almost has a six-month window. The players will have more gaps between matches and they will have only one or two matches per week. Of course, cricket getting to that stage will always remain a huge question mark. But IPL as a league has all the potential to take cricket into that stage for sure. And all the cricket viewers, cricket nations, stakeholders know this already,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin also spoke about how Indian cricket has benefited from the IPL. “Even when I started, my parents and grandparents asked me if cricket would help me financially. Only 15-20 or 25 cricketers would get a chance in 10 years. But now, because of IPL, every year,” he said. At least 75-80 Indian cricketers are getting the opportunity. “

If you get the process right you will get the result. And enjoy, don’t take too much pressure,” Dhoni told Dorji in the video.

Ngidi said playing under Dhoni’s leadership helped him “grow as a cricketer.”

South African bowler Lungi Ngidi stated that he has grown as a cricketer after playing for Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League.

Ngidi made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Speaking about CSK Lungi Ngidi revealed an incident where Dhoni’s brilliance got him a wicket in the IPL 2018 final. “It was the final against the Sunrisers in 2018, we hadn’t discussed a certain field placement but he automatically just changed my field and with that field, within a couple of balls, we got a wicket to the fielder that he had moved, ” Ngidi told.

“So for me, that’s one thing that sticks out in my mind because in a final, to have such a moment like that and to execute the plan that he wanted, really gave me confidence in terms of how to bowl. It just showed me how in tune he is with the game in terms of how he sees it’s going to play out and it played out exactly the way I think he thought it was going to.”

Ngidi also expressed gratitude after being given a chance to play under Dhoni, which helped him tremendously in his career,  “I think the main thing is just the control that he has over the team and on the field, he really does bring a sense of calm. I’ve also learnt a lot more in my time that I’ve been with CSK just under his captaincy in terms of field settings, game plans and how to construct my bowling within an inning. I think from that moment it has really helped me grow as a cricketer,” said Ngidi.
