IPL 2022 Auction: 5 Wicketkeepers Who Can Start A Bidding War in IPL Auction

The IPL 2022 is just now two months away from getting underway. The mega auction which is happening in February has received a colossal registration of 1214 players. 

Wicketkeepers over the years have played a key role for teams in the IPL. One of the most in-demand roles is that of wicketkeeper-batter who can score runs and keep well given the fast pace of the T20 game. However, along with some batters and bowlers, there are also se exiting wicketkeepers. And the will be the hammer at the auction table. Besides, CSK, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals almost all other franchises will be on the lookout for wicketkeepers.

CSK has retained MS Dhoni, Rajasthan Royals has Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler, and Delhi Capitals has Rishabh Pant The remaining seven teams including Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be looking for wicketkeepers in the upcoming IPL 2022 auction.

Ishan Kishan :
Mumbai Indians released their young and dashing wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and now he is all set to be one of the hottest options for the franchise owners. Ishan has played 45 IPL matches and scored 1133 runs, including 8 half-centuries. 

Quinton de Kock :
Quinton de Kock has announced his retirement from Test cricket and he has more time to spend on franchise cricket. In IPL auction 2022, de Kock will be one of the most preferred options for teams that are looking for first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman

Jonny Bairstow :
Bairstow has proved himself to be a very good opening option in the Indian conditions. Given his record for SRH Jonny Bairstow will be one of the most sort out wicketkeepers in the upcoming mega auction. Bairstow made 345 runs in 11 matches at an average of 31.36. 

Nicolas Pooran :
Pooran had a successful campaign during the 2020 season when he made 353 runs in 14 matches at an average of 35.3 and a strike rate of 169.71. In the 2021 season, Pooran could make only 85 runs in 12 matches. Whatever it will be interesting to see if any franchise invest in him.

Alex Carey :
Alex Carey was a part of the Delhi Capitals. Carey was released before the IPL 2021 and found no buyer in the auction. The limited-overs vice-captain of the Australian team has played in 100 T20 matches and has made 2138 runs at an average of 28.13 and a strike rate of 126.65.
