Former Indian captain Virat Kohli played his 100th Test recently against Sri Lanka. India defeated Sri Lanka by 222 runs in the 1st clash in Mohali.

Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the contest, Kohli gifted his jersey to one of his die-hard fan Dharmveer Pal. Dharmveer, a specially-abled man is also known as the unofficial 12th man of the Indian team and travels alongside the national team for most matches across India and even on foreign tours at times. 

After the match got over, Kohli, before boarding the team bus, was seen gifting Dharmveer his jersey as a special gesture. Soon the clip went viral and fans hailed the 33-year-old for his gesture. 29-year-old Dharmveer Pal has become known as India’s most loyal cricket fan, thanks to his love for the game. He contracted polio at eight months of age, which didn’t stop him from following his passion for cricket.

Dharamveer Pal revealed in an old interview that BCCI had given him accreditation in 2006 and Yuvraj Singh had promised that the Indian team will sponsor him for every match. He was often seen sitting near the boundary ropes and cheering for the Indian team.

Talking about the match, Batting first, India posted 574-8 (d) on the scoreboard. Hanuma Virari slammed 58 runs while Virat Kohli scored 45. Rishabh Pant played a fabulous knock of 96 runs. Ravindra Jadeja slammed a marvellous unbeaten 175 run-knock to take India to a giant total. Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed important 61 runs. Meanwhile, facing a follow-on, Sri Lanka had a lead of 400 runs ahead of the 2nd innings. In the 2nd innings, they got out for 178. Ravindra Jadeja came out with an exceptional 4-wicket haul. Ravichandran Ashwin also picked 4 wickets.

India completed a dominating win by an innings and 222 runs over Sri Lanka on Day 3 in Mohali to go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series. Ravindra Jadeja scored unbeaten 175 and snared nine wickets across both innings.

India enforced the follow-on after bowling out Sri Lanka for just 174 in first innings. India got as many as 16 wickets on the third day to wrap up the match with a cumulative bowling effort of 125 overs across two innings. Sri Lanka could only manage 178 in their second innings. For India, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets each while Mohammed Shami also picked up a couple. 

Meanwhile, former captain Virat Kohli was seen doing the ‘Pushparaj Thaggede Le’ step during the first Test match. In his 100th Test, Kohli was captured by the cameraman doing the now viral step. He has now joined the trend and he was spotted doing the ‘Pushparaj Thaggede Le’ step when India were inching closer to the victory against Sri Lanka in the first Test.

Talking about the match, Rishabh Pant also scored a counter-attacking 96 while Hanuma Vihari, who was promoted up the order, also hit a fifty. Virat Kohli had also played a fine knock of 45 but he missed out on a big score on his 100th Test.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday became the sixth cricketer to register a score of 150+ and take five wickets in the same Test. He help the hosts take a first-innings lead of 400 against Sri Lanka on the third day of the opening test at Mohali on Sunday.

Ravindra Jadeja has shown an impeccable performance in the match, smacking 175 runs and picking 5 wickets in the 1st innings. A day after his unbeaten 175 with the bat, Jadeja put Sri Lanka’s batters in a knot with his left-arm spin as the touring side were bundled out for 174 in the first session, replying to India’s 574-8 declared.

Notably, Nissanka and Charith Asalanka both survived dropped chances against Ashwin within the first 15 minutes of the third day’s play. Meanwhile in the 33rd over of Sri Lanka’s second innings. He got off the mark in the 1st ball of the 35th over by smashing Jadeja a brilliant six over the long-on. Nissanka and Asalanka had added 58 runs for the fifth wicket. Thereafter, it was a procession of wickets as Sri Lanka lost their last five wickets for just 13 runs, and their final four batsmen were all dismissed for ducks. India bowled out Sri Lanka  for 174 on the third day of the opening Test to take a mammoth 400-run first-innings lead here on Sunday.

Virat Kohli was given a guard of honour by his teammates to commemorate his 100th Test match for India. He on Friday became the 12th cricketer to represent India in 100 Tests and the 71st overall.

As India came out to field in the first innings, the entire team lined up to give Kohli a guard of honour in recognition for the 100th Test match of his storied international career. Virat Kohli was as usual one of the first players to step on the field. This is when Rohit asked him to wait outside the field of play for some time before the players stood to give their former skipper a special guard of honour.

Kohli acknowledged the gesture from his teammates. In a video shared by the BCCI on its official Twitter handle, Kohli can be seen smiling as he steps onto the ground with his teammates cheering for him. 

Earlier on day 1 Kohli played a solid 45-run knock in the first innings before being dismissed by the left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya. Earlier, Kohli received a special cap to commemorate his historic achievement ahead of the Mohali game by the team’s head coach Rahul Dravid. He urged Virat Kohli to “double it up”. Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma also joined the cricketer at the felicitation ceremony.

Lasith Embuldeniya gets Virat Kohli with a peach of a delivery

Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who became the 12th Indian cricketer to feature in 100 Tests, was dismissed for 45 during the first Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka in Mohali on Friday. He couldn’t make the occasion an even more special one as he got out five runs short of his half century.

Former indian captain Virat Kohli  was sent off by Sri Lankan spinner Lasith Embuldeniya in the first innings of the match. After Mayank Agarwal’s wicket, Virat Kohli came out to bat to a standing ovation at Mohali Stadium. The right-handed batsman again looked in good form. However, in the 43rd over of India’s first inning, Lasith Embuldeniya hit a longer ball around his stump and spun on Virat Kohli’s bat, resulting in a clean pitch. Kohli scored 45 runs from 76 balls and hit 5 bounds during his tenure. Kohli couldn’t even touch the ball as his off-stump was disturbed.

India opted to bat first on what looked like a great pitch for batting.  India  off to a flying start with openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal attacking bowlers from the outset. The openers managed a 52-run stand before Rohit was dismissed for 29. India lost Mayank Agarwal for 33 ahead of Lunch. Kohli then combined with India’s new No.3 Hanuma Vihari to stitch a 90-run stand.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli achieved another milestone during Day 1 of the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka. Playing his 100th Test match, Kohli completed 8000 runs in Test cricket and becomes the 6th Indian batter to achieve the feat. Earlier, Kohli was felicitated by the BCCI on Friday commemorating his landmark 100th Test match.

Ishan Kishan admitted to hospital after being hit on head in 2nd T20

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been admitted to Fortis hospital. He got injured during the 2nd T20 match against Sri Lanka on Saturday. . He was dismissed for 16 runs off 15 balls with the help of two fours.

According to media reports, Ishan Kishan has been admitted to the ICU of Fortis Hospital in Kangra. The incident happened in the fourth over of the Indian innings, when Lahiru bowled a fast bouncer at a speed of 146 kmph. Which hit Ishaan’s head. After the ball was hit, he took off the helmet and sat down and then the physio had to come on the field. He continued playing despite the physio advising against it but lost his wicket soon after. 

After the match Ishan was admitted to the ICU ward of Fortis, where he was scanned. After the scan, he was shifted to the general ward, where he spent the night under the supervision of doctors. It is believed that the BCCI can issue a statement soon regarding the condition of Ishan Kishan.

The BCCI has not officially commented on the matter. At present, Ishan’s CT scan has been done and he is absolutely healthy. Along with Ishan Kishan, Sri Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal was also taken to the hospital. Chandimal suffered a thumb injury while fielding.

India managed to register an easy win owing to the batting master class of Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja. India registered a 7-wicket victory against Sri Lanka to seal the series victory under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy on Saturday. India chased down a 184-run target with 17 balls to spare.

Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the T20 series against Sri Lanka due to a wrist injury. Ruturaj played in the last T20I against West Indies where he got out cheaply.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him,” BCCI stated yesterday. It has now been confirmed that Ruturaj will be unavailable for the last two T20Is. While, Mayank Agarwal replaces him for remaining matches. his is the second time Agarwal has been added to the India squad. 

Earlier, Mayank was also added to the one-day squad for the West Indies series after Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Gaikwad tested positive for COVID-19. “It was not difficult to send Agarwal in because it could easily be a bubble-to-bubble transfer. He was in Chandigarh and he was immediately rushed,” a source told Cricbuzz.

About Ruturaj Gaikwad’s absence from the eleven in the 1st T20 against Sri Lanka , Rohit was said that the young opener was set to play the game but a wrist injury ruled him out. “It’s a challenge for the new gutsy – from the last game we played, we have 6 changes. Ruturaj was supposed to play, but he has a wrist injury and will not play today,” said the skipper.

Meanwhile, Indian players left Lucknow and are quarantining in Chandigarh for the final two games, which will be played in Dharamshala. However, Ruturaj’s injury adds to the already long injury list, with Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar, and KL Rahul ruled out prior to the series.

Asalanka was given out but he took the DRS. The replay showed that the ball had touched the batter’s bat before hitting the pads. After the umpire gave it not-out, the Indian coach could not believe what he saw and gave a priceless reaction. Asalanka scored a half-century as he remained unbeaten for 53 off 47 deliveries.
