IPL 2022: Ambati Rayudu signs up as wicketkeeper in the Mega Auction

The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Among 590 players, who have registered for the auction, 228 are capped, 355 are uncapped and 7 belong to Associate Nations. The players’ list published by the BCCI on the official website of IPL, and acording to the list, Ambati Rayudu has registered himself as a wicket-keeping batter.

Rayudu was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the mega auction. .Meanwhile, everyone is surprise Rayudu has entered the auction in the wicket-keeper’s category. The 36-year-old Ambati Rayudu is currently at the end of his career and sensed that he might not excite the team owners. However Rayudu took the gloves on few match for CSK, when MS Dhoni wasn’t obtainable. However, he had been a first-choice wicketkeeper for his earlier franchise Mumbai Indians.

The cricketer from Hyderabad has entered the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore, the highest bracket. It remains to be seen if Rayudu attracts any bid from the 10 franchises. Rayudu has been a very consistent performer in the IPL. He has played 175 matches in total and scored 3916 runs in them.

Rayudu has averaged 29.44 runs at a strike rate of 127.47. Along with that, he has scored one century and 21 half-centuries. Last season, he played an important role in helping CSK to the title as he scored 257 runs at an average of 28.55 and a stunning strike rate of 151.17

IPL 2022: Sreesanth Posts Heartfelt Tweet After Making IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The BCCI confirmed that the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Former Indian fast bowler Sreesanth along with 590 cricketers will be going under the hammer during the two-day mega auction

While, Sreesanth had registered his name for the IPL auction last year too, but couldn’t make it to the final list. Coming back from a seven-year suspension due to his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal, he played for Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in January. This year he has been registered for the player auction at a base price of Rs 50 lakh. 

Soon after the final list for the mega auction was announced by the BCCI, Sreesanth took to social media to express his gratitude to the fans and thanked everyone. “Love you all..Can’t thank you all..Thank you so much..#Grateful and will always be grateful to each of you..Please keep me in your prayers for the final auction too ” Sreesanth wrote.

Sreesanth last represented Rajasthan Royals in the 6th edition of the T20 league. He has also been part of Punjab Kings and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The 38-year-old pacer has dismissed 40 batsmen in 44 IPL matches. He has scalped 54 wickets in 65 T20s.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction : Bengal Sports Minister Manoj Tiwary shortlisted for mega auction

BCCI announced the final list of players for the IPL 2022 auction on Tuesday. In the final list, the board has shortlisted 590 players. Hence, a total of 590 players will undergo the hammer during the IPL auction.

Indian cricketer and current sports Minister of Bengal Manoj Tiwary has been shortlisted among the 590 names for the final list ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2022. The 36-year-old right-handed batter, who last played in the IPL in 2018, had registered his name for the upcoming auction. Tiwary is amongst the 61 capped Indian players who have been selected for the auction.

Manoj Tiwary represented the Delhi Daredevils , Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiant and Punjab Kings, playing 98 matches in the IPL. He scored 1695 runs, including 7 fifties and also has a wicket against his name. He last played for Punjab in IPL 2018.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar’s son, former Mumbai Indians pacer Arjun Tendulkar has also returned to the auction at a base price of Rs 20 Lakh, the same as 2021 edition. Arjun was picked up by the five-time champions in the 2021 auction but didn’t play a single game before his tournament was cut short due to an injury.

IPL 2022: Total of 590 cricketers make it to mega auctions

On Tuesday BCCI announced the final list of players for the IPL 2022 auction. In the final list, the board has shortlisted 590 players. Hence, a total of 590 players will undergo the hammer during the IPL auction.

This will be the 15th season of the IPL and some of the biggest stars of world cricket will be coming together to light up the prestigious tournament. Amongst 590 players who have registered for the auction, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and seven belong to Associate Nations. Also, amongst the 590 players, 370 are Indians and the remaining 220 are overseas players.

There are 48 players who have placed themselves in the Rs. 2 crore bracket, which is the highest reserve price for players in the auction. Meanwhile, 20 players will see their bidding start at Rs. 1.5 crore base price, while 34 players have a base price of Rs. 1 crore. The 10 IPL franchises will engage in a bidding war to buy some of the biggest names in international cricket.

Amongst the 220 overseas players, 47 belong to Australia, the highest for any foreign country in the IPL 2022 mega auction. West Indies (34) will see the second-highest numbers of players participate in the auction, followed by South Africa (33), England and New Zealand (24 each), Sri Lanka (23), and Afghanistan (17). Players from Bangladesh, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, USA, and Scotland have also been shortlisted for the IPL.
