Vinod got arrested for drunk driving, hitting a passing car in Mumbai

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli was arrested for drunk driving on Sunday as he hit car at a Bandra society in Mumbai. 

The cricketer was taken to Bandra police station in Mumbai and was later granted bail. After hitting a parked car, Kambli hit the compound wall of his building as well and was booked for rash driving. The 50-year-old was charged under the Indian Penal Code for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to news agency PTI, Kambli was released on bail later in the day. 

Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of police Manjunath Singhe (zone IX) said, “He was driving his car in a drunken state. He has been arrested and further investigation is being done by Bandra police station.” However, PTI reported that Kambli was released on bail later in the day. Kambli also allegedly argued with the complex’s watchman and some residents after the incident.

Vinod Kambli played his last international match for the Indian side in the year 2000 against the Sri Lankan side. He  was also a part of the Indian side that played the 1992 and 1996 ODI World Cups as well. Kambli played 17 Tests and scored 1084 runs, including 4 hundreds. He played 104 ODIs for India, hitting 2477 runs, including 2 hundreds.
