Deepak Chahar wanted lesser than Rs 14 crore after being bought back by CSK

India all-rounder Deepak Chahar, was among the top picks on Indian Premier League mega auction Day 1. Chahar on Saturday got acquired by CSK for Rs 14 crores in the mega auction. For Chahar, a bidding war took place between CSK and Rajasthan Royals and the pacer ultimately went to Chennai.

Chahar had been part of the CSK set-up, a Powerplay specialist. He swings the balls, which not many Indian pacers do in modern-day cricket. His batting pyrotechnics lower down the order adds value to his game.

“We (Indian team) were travelling from Ahmedabad to Kolkata. We were watching the auction on the phone, the whole team was watching it. Everyone was asking ‘kitna ho gaya?’ When I reached till Rs 14 crore, I was thinking ‘I should not go for more than this’ because if CSK pulled out after that, I would have been very sad. I wanted to play for CSK because I can’t imagine myself playing for any other colour.

“At one time, I thought it was too much. As a CSK player, I also want the team to build a good team and we can buy some other players.” Chahar told Star Sports.

Speaking about his reunion with Dhoni and the management staff of the Chennai-based franchise, Chahar said, “I am really happy to be back in Chennai Super Kings. I don’t think there will be any difference. When I go back, I will be seeing the same faces over the last four years, maybe over the last six years because I was with the Pune side and half the players were there. I could not have asked for a better auction than this,” .

I have never spoken about all this to Mahi bhai or the CSK management (about retention). They just assured me that in 2018, I met Kasi sir and Srinivasan sir and they told me that I was going to play for Yellow always.I took his word that day and after that, I have never spoken about retention or anything. Before the auction also, I didn’t speak anything. I knew that CSK would pick me,” he added.

‘It has affected my sleep’: Broad opens up on his exclusion from the West Indies squad.

Stuart Broad has finally reacted to his omission from the England Test squad for the series against West Indies. He has admitted of being hit “pretty hard” by his exclusion from the West Indies squad. Earlier this week, England named its squad for the three Tests against Windies and both Broad and James Anderson were left out of the squad.

“I am struggling to put things into context. It’s hard to do so when all you’ve had is a five-minute phone call and nothing else,” Broad wrote in his Mail on Sunday column. “Not to big it up too much but it has affected my sleep. I said to my partner Mollie one morning that my body felt sore. She suggested that would be stress. No, I can’t pretend I am as good as gold, because I am not. It would be wrong to act like everything’s OK.”

Strauss said he had spoken to Broad and Anderson after they were omitted and that he hoped they would understand the rationale behind the decision. However, Broad was struggling to understand why he had been left out.”I took 11 wickets in the final two Ashes matches, I have been test-match standard for a long time and, for the last eight years, you would say world class,” Broad said.”

I could take being dropped if I had let my standards slip but facing up to being overlooked when they haven’t is another thing altogether. That’s why I was so outspoken when I was left out against West Indies in Southampton a couple of years ago.” The same again here.

‘Don’t worry, I’m inside the crease’: Buttler and Ashwin shared cheeky responses between each other

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to represent Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. But for the fact that he will now be sharing the dressing room with Jos Buttler.

Rajasthan Royals bidding for ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and eventually winning it for Rs. 5 crore. It is no secret that Ashwin shares a bitter rivalry with Royals’ wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler. In IPL 2019, Ashwin and Buttler were involved in a controversy as the former then leading Punjab Kings had dismissed Buttler through ‘Mankad’. The off spinner dismissed Buttler run out at the none-striker’s end. What looked like a comfortable chase turned into a nightmare for the Royals, as Buttler’s wicket changed the complexion of game completely. The dismissal that sparked a huge ‘spirit of cricket’ debate, leaving the cricket fraternity divided.

The moment Royals won the bid for Ashwin, twitter went into a frenzy with loads of memes. However, Buttler and Ashwin shared cheeky responses between each other and it was a treat to watch for cricket fans. Ashwin in a video message, remarked how he was looking forward to share the dressing room with Buttler. “Looking forward to bowl alongside Yuzi. It’s going to be a lot of fun and most importantly, to sharing the dressing room with Jos, how good is that going to be? “All things done, Halla Bol,” Ashwin concluded.

On the other hand, Jos Buttler also shared a video message through the official handle of Rajasthan Royals in which he said – “Hey Ash, Jos here. Don’t worry, I am inside the crease. Can’t wait to see you in pink for the Royals. Look forward to sharing a dressing room with you. Halla Bol.”

AUS vs SL : Steve Smith To Miss Remaining T20Is Due To Concussion

Steve Smith suffered a concussion during Australia’s second T20 International against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The Australian star will be subjected to low-level protocols for the next few days, is expected to be fully recovered in 6-7 days and will likely miss the rest of the series.

The incident happened in the third-last ball of the match as Maheesh Theekshana smashed Marcus Stoinis, as the ball went high up in the sky. Even as the ball seemed to be sailing over the ropes for a maximum, Steve Smith did not throw in the towel but dived full stretch to save some valuable runs.

He, however, was unsuccessful as the replay showed his foot was touching the rope before he caught the ball and sent it back to the field. Adding salt to Australia’s injury, Smith nastily crash-landed outside the ropes and hit his head badly while falling. He subsequently suffered a concussion and was taken off the field. It was later learnt that Smith has been ruled out of the series.

To make issues worse, Smith additionally suffered a concussion himself with the trouble as he landed on his head. He has been dominated out of the remainder of the five-match T20I sequence because of this.

His concussion diagnosis was confirmed late on Sunday and cricket Australia (CA) said the 32-year-old will be subject to “low level protocols” over the coming days before an anticipated recovery within the week. “(Smith) will be subject to low level protocols for the next few days and full recovery in 6-7 days,” the CA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Smith, on Monday, also took to social media and thanked his fans and well-wishers for the greetings. “Thanks everyone for reaching out. My head has felt better but I will be ok,” he posted on Twitter. Meanwhile, Australia now lead the five-match series 2-0 and the win in the next game would seal the deal for them.

Notably,  Australia  defeated Sri Lanka  in the super over to win the second T20I of the five-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. With this win, Australia have gained a 2-0 lead in the five-match series and the third T20I will now be played on Tuesday.
