India defeated Bangladesh to enter the U-19 World Cup semi-final

India beat Bangladesh in the quarter-finals of the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 to seal the place in the semi-finals. This was the 7th time India stormed past the last eight stages in the history of the U-19 World Cup. India will face Australia in the semi-final on February 2.

India have beaten defending champions Bangladesh by five wickets. Winning the toss, India opted to bowl, while Bangladesh was off to a shaky start, losing three wickets with 14 runs on the board. India’s bowler Ravi Kumar ripped through the top order of Bangladesh team. He had taken just one wicket in the tournament but finished with figures of three for 14 from seven overs here, as he dismissed the top three Bangladesh batters. However, just two other Bangladesh batters reached double figures and they were eventually all out for 111. 

Chasing a small target of 112 to win, India lost opener Harnoor Singh early but other opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shaik Rasheed batted well . They put their team into command by stitching a 50-run stand for the second wicket. The stand eventually ended on 70 as Ripon Mondol dismissed Raghuvanshi on 44.

However, it appeared for a moment that another twist will come in this chase but it was not to be as skipper Yash Dhull (20) kept his calm and along with Kaushal Tambe (11) won the game for India. Kaushal finished the match off in style with a six over long on off spinner Rakibul Hasan.

BBL Final : Richardson was left with a bleeding nose and lips

Perth Scorchers claimed their fourth Big Bash League (BBL) trophy on Friday after they defeated Sydney Sixers by 79 runs in the final at Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium.

Becoming the most successful side in the 11-year history of the BBL, it was going to be a long night of celebrations for the Men in Orange, however, the celebrations went wrong when one of their player Jhye Richardson was injured, bleeding from his nose was clearly visible. was left bleeding with a cut nose and his teeth were covered in blood as he explained later what happened. But there was no worry or tension on his face as he gave an interview with a child-like enthusiasm as his team won the BBL 11.

“I was busy appealing and Munners (Colin Munro) had run in from deep square leg and got his shoulder into my nose. So, war wounds, but it’s all worth it,” Richardson told Fox Cricket after the game. The Scorchers players then wrapped up team-only celebrations to reunite with their family members on the ground in heartwarming scenes.

Richardson took the last two wickets of the Sixers’ innings dismissing Nathan Lyon and Steve O’Keefe as Scorchers bowled them out for a paltry score of 92 runs, winning the final by a huge margin of 79 runs.

Oman To Host Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier A From February 18

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier will take place on February 18th in Oman. Oman will take on Nepal in the opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier.

There are going to be 8 participants in the league and a total of 20 matches will be played in the tournament. The eight teams participating in the tournament are Oman, Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Nepal, Philippines, and United Arab Emirates (UAE). 
However, Nepal and UAE have qualified for the tournament through their ICC rankings while other teams have qualified through regional qualifying tournaments held through last year.

“70 teams started the qualification process for this event, and we’ve now reached the final stages with four spots at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 set to be decided in two global qualifiers starting with this one in Oman,” Chris Tetley said as per an official ICC release.

The teams in Qualifier are divided into two groups of four. Group A will include Canada, Nepal, Oman and Philippines while Group B will feature Bahrain, Germany, Ireland, and UAE. Each team will play all the other teams once in its group, followed by position classification matches. The two teams that reach the final will advance to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year.

Ngidi said playing under Dhoni’s leadership helped him “grow as a cricketer.”

South African bowler Lungi Ngidi stated that he has grown as a cricketer after playing for Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League.

Ngidi made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Speaking about CSK Lungi Ngidi revealed an incident where Dhoni’s brilliance got him a wicket in the IPL 2018 final. “It was the final against the Sunrisers in 2018, we hadn’t discussed a certain field placement but he automatically just changed my field and with that field, within a couple of balls, we got a wicket to the fielder that he had moved, ” Ngidi told.

“So for me, that’s one thing that sticks out in my mind because in a final, to have such a moment like that and to execute the plan that he wanted, really gave me confidence in terms of how to bowl. It just showed me how in tune he is with the game in terms of how he sees it’s going to play out and it played out exactly the way I think he thought it was going to.”

Ngidi also expressed gratitude after being given a chance to play under Dhoni, which helped him tremendously in his career,  “I think the main thing is just the control that he has over the team and on the field, he really does bring a sense of calm. I’ve also learnt a lot more in my time that I’ve been with CSK just under his captaincy in terms of field settings, game plans and how to construct my bowling within an inning. I think from that moment it has really helped me grow as a cricketer,” said Ngidi.

South Africa’s U-19 cricketer Dewald Brevis has emerged as one of the best finds from the ongoing ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. He has been one of the most talked-bout players in the ongoing U19 World.

The youngster who achieved global recognition in this competition. He is known for his ability to score in any area irrespective of where the field placements have been made courtesy of his timing and strokeplay . Brevis is known as ‘Baby AB’ in South Africa as his batting stance and timing have a striking resemblance to AB de Villiers.

Meanwhile, a picture of Brevus in RCB’s jersey left the RCB fans in awe as they wondered if the player will play for the franchise in the IPL in the future. Interestingly ,a video went viral on Twitter where Brevis is heard talking about his love for IPL and names his favourite franchise and cricketers. Speaking of his future plans, Brevis said he wants to represent South Africa in all three formats of the game. Alongside that, he also wishes to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League .

“For me one of the biggest dream is to play for the Proteas. I’m such a big fan of IPL and I would love to play the IPL for RCB. I love RCB because Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers was there. I’m big fan of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers,” Brevis said. As the IPL 2022 mega auctions are scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13, next month, it would be interesting to see if RCB shows interest in the player.

Cricket will be a part of the 2022 Asian Games

Cricket is set to feature at the Asian Games once again in the 2022 edition. The 2022 Asian Games will take place from September 10 to September 25, 2022, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Cricket makes its return to the Asian Games after 8 years and will be one among the 40 sports that will be played. The decision was taken at the OCA’s General Assembly in Bangkok .Cricket was last played at the 2014 Asian Games however, wasn’t included for the 2018 edition in Indonesia. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) welcomed the OCA’s decision to include cricket for the next season.

‘Yes, cricket has been included in the sports programme for 2022 Hangzhou Games,’ OCA honorary vice-president Randhir Singh was quoted as saying in The New Indian Express. Cricket will be played in the T20 format in the 16-day tournament. ‘We welcome the decision of the OCA. Which format will be played is not yet confirmed but it is a welcome decision,’ General Rajeev Mehta, the IOA Secretary, said.

Huge crowd gathers outside Ravi Bishnoi’s house for celebration as he earns maiden call from Team India

On Wednesday, BCCI announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming limited over series against West Indies, which begins from February 6. Ravi Bishnoi, who was a key player for India in the U-19 World Cup 2020, earned his maiden call-up to the senior national team for both ODI and T20I home series against West Indies.

Meanwhile, people celebrated outside Ravi Bishnoi’s house after the BCCI announced that he had been selected for the West Indies tour. After the major news of his maiden call to senior team broke up , a huge crowd gathered outside Bishnoi’s home for celebration. Some women are dancing there and traditional songs of Rajasthan are being played.

There were drums being played with people dancing in delight. The video of the same went viral on social media with congratulatory messages for the youngster pouring in from different corners.

Ravi Bishnoi comes from a humble background. His father is a school teacher who encouraged Bishnoi to play cricket.
