IPL 2022: Suresh Raina Comments On CSK Post

This is for the very first time that Suresh Raina will not be playing in the tournament. Mr. IPL, who was a part of the Chennai Super Kings, went unsold during the IPL 2022 auction.

However, the 35-year-old southpaw did not forget his old team, the Chennai Super Kings, the franchise for which he has played a number of memorable knocks over the years and helped it win the coveted title on more than one occasion. The veteran has also continued to follow the franchise’s activities on social media and he recently also expressed his love and appreciation for one of his ex teammates.

Chennai Super Kings posted a photo of Ambati Rayudu reaching the team’s pre-season camp for IPL 2022 in Surat. Suresh Raina was quick to comment the word ‘Legend’ with a couple of emojis under the photo posted by the Chennai Super Kings team. Many members of the cricket universe appreciated the comment by Raina, which once again highlighted his kind nature and how he puts others ahead of himself.

Suresh Raina has played 11 years for the CSK and scored 4,687 runs for the same franchise. CSK chief executive officer Kashi Viswanath called him the team’s “one of the most consistent performers”. However, explaining the reason for the Super Kings ignoring the experienced batter, the top official said in a video which was shared by CSK on their YouTube channel, “the team composition depends on the form and kind of team which any team would like to have so that’s one of the reasons why we thought he may not fit into this team.”

IPL 2022 : Fans want Gujarat Titans to name Suresh Raina as a replacement of Jason Roy

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina wasn’t retained by Chennai Super Kings at the Indian Premier League auction 2022, and he was remained unsold in IPL 2022 mega auction, however he was expected to be roped in by some other franchise.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans – who are one of the two new IPL franchises – were dealt with a blow, as English batter Jason Roy pulled himself out of the tournament. The right-hander cited that he wants to spend more time with his family. There are many speculations about who will replace the English opener in the Gujarat Titans squad. Although there’s no official confirmation, many fans want the Hardik Pandya-led side to rope in Suresh Raina as a replacement.

The moment Roy announced that he is opting out of the mega event, cricket fans started trending with Raina’s hashtag on Twitter as fans believe that the southpaw is the perfect replacement for Roy. Notably, both Roy and Raina played together in the 2017 edition of IPL for now-defunct Gujarat Lions. Raina was the skipper of Gujarat Lions when Chennai Super Kings were banned from taking part in the IPL in 2016 and 2017 on corruption charges.

Raina is the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL history. During his IPL term, he made 5528 run by playing 205 matches. However, his performance in the last two season was not good. He missed the 2020 IPL due to the personal reason while he made only 160 runs in the 2021 IPL.

‘Mr. IPL’ Suresh Raina did not find any buyers: Fans slams Chennai Super Kings

Suresh Raina went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction, as no franshise showed interest in buying the left-handed batsman. The Batsman’s name was brought up on the very first day of the 2-day auction, but after going unsold on that day, the veteran all-rounder didn’t make in the last list of 69 players for the accelerated auctions on Sunday. Meaning, Suresh Raina is officially out of the 15th edition of the IPL.

CSK decided to buy back most of its players from the core squad, the Yellow Army did not bid for Raina – who remains to be the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL history. Known as ‘Mr. IPL’, Suresh Raina has scored more than 5000 runs in 205 games. Raina is one of the leading run-scorers in Indian Premier League.

The left-handed batsman has scored 5528 runs in 205 IPL games and is the 4th leading run-getter in the tournament currently. The 35-yar-old has also shattered 1 century and 39 fifties in the tournament. He was also the first player in IPL’s history to breach the 5000-run mark and he did it while playing for CSK in the 2019 season.

Meanwhile, fans on Twitter were upset and they slammed Chennai Super Kings for not picking Raina despite having an INR 2.95 crore purse left after finalizing the squad.
