IND vs SL : Virat Kohli’s Fan Prediction About His Score On His 100th Test Goes Viral

Former India captain Virat Kohli reached his 100th test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali. Kohli becomes the twelfth cricketer in the history of cricket to represent India in 100 test matches, however, a tweet predicting his accurate score and dismissal has gone viral on the internet.

Virat Kohli was able to score 45 runs off 76 balls in the first innings of his 100th Test cricket match and his innings consisted of 5 amazing fours. He looked in fine touch and played some great shots en route to his 45-run knock but failed to convert his start into a big score once again. He was dismissed  by Lasith Embuldeniya.

Meanwhile a tweet by a fan is going viral for it’s unbelievable similarity to what happened today on the field. The tweet predicted that Kohli will get out on 45(100) against Lasith Embuldeniya and the dismissal will be clean bold. The user also mentioned that Kohli will have a shocking face. The exact same thing happened on the ground.

“Kohli won’t score a 100 in his 100th test. Will score 45 (100) with 4 gorgeous cover drives and then Embuldeniya will knock his stumps over and he’ll pretend to be shocked and will nod his head in disappointment,” the Twitter user wrote at 12:46 AM on Friday. As the prediction turned out to be true, the tweet went viral with several fans reacting to it.

This was the rarest of rare sporting predictions to come true with such unerring precision. The only part where the fangirl got slightly wrong is that Kohli didn’t face 100 but 76 deliveries and struck 5 and not 4 boundaries in his innings.

IPL 2022: R Ashwin slams former cricketers who are bashing IPL

Indian Premier League is the biggest T20 cricket league in the world at present. There have been many countries that have started their own T20 league, following the footsteps of IPL. However, IPL being the only T20 tournament with Indian cricketers’ presence along with the best of the overseas players, makes it the best franchise-based tournament in the world.

However, IPL has been blamed, every now and then, for its negative impact on international teams. For example, this year after losing Ashes, former England players and experts argued that English players priortising IPL has led to the decline of Test cricket in England. Meanwhile,Indian off-spinner Ravichandran
Ashwin
has come out bashing such criticism on his YouTube channel.

“IPL has been under the radar for so many years. Suddenly, some former cricketer will say something bad about IPL for no reason. Imagine the situation in 2008 or 2010. There were only 20-25 cricketers who would be there. Team India To represent in the Indian setup.” Ashwin further said that a few nations schedule their international fixture keeping IPL in mind. However, since the IPL is kicking off on March 26 this year in place of April 8/9 many teams will be suffering because of this.

“Lawrence Booth (English journalist) had tweeted about IPL fixtures saying it takes almost one-third of the year. Even the English Premier League happens and almost has a six-month window. The players will have more gaps between matches and they will have only one or two matches per week. Of course, cricket getting to that stage will always remain a huge question mark. But IPL as a league has all the potential to take cricket into that stage for sure. And all the cricket viewers, cricket nations, stakeholders know this already,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin also spoke about how Indian cricket has benefited from the IPL. “Even when I started, my parents and grandparents asked me if cricket would help me financially. Only 15-20 or 25 cricketers would get a chance in 10 years. But now, because of IPL, every year,” he said. At least 75-80 Indian cricketers are getting the opportunity. “

Rohit Sharma Reveals His Favourite Virat Kohli Century In Test Cricket

Virat Kohli will play his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka on Friday, 4th March. Former India captain Virat Kohli has 27 hundreds and 28 half-centuries in Test cricket before he is set to take the field for the 100th appearance for India in red-ball cricket against Sri Lanka.

He has been appointed as the new India all-format captain after Kohli’s resignation from Test captaincy following the series defeat in South Africa earlier this year. While, Rohit Sharma lavished huge praise on Virat Kohli ahead of his 100th Test match.

Rohit went on to say that Kohli deserves all the credit for making India the top-ranked Test team, and he will try to carry forward the job. “It’s been a brilliant journey for him and a long one since he made his debut. Now to go and play his 100th game, it’s been a wonderful one. He has done exceedingly well in this format, changed so many things in the way team is moving forward, it’s been brilliant to watch that.” Rohit said in the virtual press conference ahead of the Mohali Test.

When asked his favourite Kohli knock, Rohit picked Kohli’s Test hundred in South Africa, back in 2013. “As an individual, my best memory of him is his Test hundred against South Africa in 2013. The pitch we were batting on was very challenging; it had a lot of bounce and a lot of us were playing a Test in South Africa for the first time. He scored a hundred in first innings and 90 odd in the second innings. That hundred for me is his best. Then there is Perth 2018 but 2013 South Africa beats Perth,” Rohit said.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina wasn’t retained by Chennai Super Kings at the Indian Premier League auction 2022, and he was remained unsold in IPL 2022 mega auction, however he was expected to be roped in by some other franchise.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans – who are one of the two new IPL franchises – were dealt with a blow, as English batter Jason Roy pulled himself out of the tournament.
