Medium-Pacer kieron Pollard bowls off-spin In Trinidad T10 Blast

Kieron Pollard is one of the best all-rounders of all time in the T20 format. In the last few years, Pollard has restricted his bowling and only comes on when the team requires him badly with the ball.

Pollard is Generally a medium-pace bowler, he uses a mixture of cutters to outfox the batters. His bowling has been so effective that he has more than 300 T20 wickets to his name as well. However, recently, the all-rounder, who usually bowls medium pace, turned into an off-spinner in a T10 match. This move worked brilliantly for his side, as pollard took a wicket bowling off-spin. The rare incident took place during a Trinidad T10 Blast 2022 match between Scoa King and Scarlet Ibis Scorchers.

On the fifth delivery of the over, Leonardo Julien tried to play a shot towards the on-side but he was castled by the “off-spinner” Pollard as he completely misjudged the delivery. Nobody really expected this sort of an approach from Pollard. Though Pollard got the first wicket for his team. The video clip spread like wildfire on social media portals.

While, that was not the end of the drama between the two. A few balls later, when Pooran was at the non-striker’s end, Pollard the bowler, stopped midway through his run-up again, this time in an attempt to Mankad Pooran. What made things even more bizarre.

Meanwhile, Kings eventually posted a mammoth total of 150/3 in their allotted quota of 10 overs. The target proved to be too good for the Scorchers and they lost the match by 42 runs eventually by D/L method. Notably Kieron Pollard will soon be seen with the Mumbai Indians franchise in the upcoming season of the IPL. The all-rounder was retained by the franchise before the auctions.

Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL 2022 due to bio bubble fatigue

England batsman Jason Roy has decided to pulled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League citing challenges of staying in a bubble. Gujarat Titans bagged him in the mega auction with his base price of INR 2cr. Roy played his last year’s season from the Sunrises Hyderabad franchise.

According to a report in ‘ESPNcricinfo’, Jason Roy informed the franchise of his decision last week. The Titans are yet to finalise a replacement. However, the England cricketer’s pull-out from the IPL would hurt the franchise as he was in sublime form in the PSL, where, despite playing just six games for the Gladiators, he still managed to score 303 runs at an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 170.22.

This is the second time Roy has decided not to take part in the IPL after finding a team at the auction. In 2020, Delhi Capitals picked up Roy for his then base price of Rs 1.5 crore but he opted out for personal reasons. The 31-year-old cricketer last season had represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and dished out a few decent performances.

Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar warns Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid, ahead of T20 World Cup

India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the third T20 International to make a 3-0 clean sweep in the three-match series on Saturday. Team India recorded 11 consecutive victories in this format.

However,  former captain Sunil Gavaskar has given a warning to coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma. The former player said that Indian bowlers gave away runs at a high economy rate in the final five overs. In a conversation with Star Sports Sunil Gavaskar said that India need to address this issue and cannot afford to concede runs heavily often. He also also praised Sri Lanka team for their hitting ability, especially in the death overs.

The legendary batsman has warned India ahead of the T20 World Cup in mind. Harshal Patel was smashed for 42 runs in two overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah conceded 16 and 14 runs respectively as India gave away 78 runs in the death overs.

“It is not a sign of worry but it is something they have got to look at because they cannot afford to have it regularly. One match, it happens that is the nature of the format. There might be partnerships in the last 5-6 overs where you will get 80-90 runs like we saw today,” Gavaskar said in a conversation.

“Shanaka was magnificent today. Even Nissanka, look at that shot against Bumrah, of all the people. It isn’t easy to hit against Bumrah. It is an issue that India cannot afford to sweep under the carpet. They have to worry about the death-over bowlers. Who should be bowling the first 10 and the last 8? These are issues that India need to think about,” Gavaskar added.
