IND vs WI: West Indies Squad For India Tour 2022

West Indies cricket board have announced their ODI squad against India. The three-match ODI series, which will be played in Ahmedabad on February 6, 9 and 11, is part of the ODI Super League which forms the pathway for the 2023 World Cup, which is scheduled in India in October-November next year.

Kieron Pollard has been handed the leadership role for the tour. Interestingly, West Indies have recalled senior pacer Kemar Roach for the three-match ODI series . Lead Selector, Desmond Haynes, said, “Kemar Roach is one of our leading fast bowlers and we believe we need bowlers upfront to get an early wicket, and Kemar, with an economy rate of five, is certainly good enough to play. Over the last few years, Nkrumah Bonner’s cricket has come on leaps and bounds and we believe he should be given an opportunity to play in the 50-over format.”

Apart from Roach, Nkrumah Bonner and Brandon King have recalled in the 15-man squad . King last played an ODI for West Indies in January 2020 whereas Bonner last represented them in the format in the ODIs against Bangladesh in January last year.

Haynes added, “We want to have competition for places. We want to reach a stage where we have a lot of players fighting for positions. We want to broaden the pool of players we have to choose from. The team we have selected is a very good side and we are looking at this tour as part of the preparations for the World Cup in India in 2023.”

Shakib Al Hasan celebrates wicket with Allu Arjun’s iconic gesture from ‘Pushpa’ in BPL

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan made headlines on Tuesday, during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. He followed the international cricketer Dwayne Bravo, who bringing the movie flavor into the game. Recently, DJ Bravo himself pulled off Allu Arjun’s dance step from Pushpa: The Rise movie.

While most of the cricketers have performed the ‘Pushpa walk’ – a dance step from the movie’s song ‘Srivalli’ – Shakib decided to copy another famous scene from the Allu Arjun-starrer with a different touch. Shakib performed Allu Arjun’s iconic gesture in which he runs his hand across the chin during a BPL match.

During the match, Fortune Barishal captain Shakib Al Hasan and Caribbean player Dwayne Bravo entertained the people with their cool style in the field. Actually, a video of Barishal’s captain Shakib Al Hasan is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this video, he was seen celebrating in a popular style of Pushpa film after taking the wicket of opposition player Faf du Plessis.

However, the match didn’t go as deliberate for Barishal. They needed to face defeat by 63 runs. Despite Bravo’s three-wicket haul and a very good efficiency from Shakib’s supply, Comilla batted first and managed to score 158 for 7.

Ravi Bishnoi gets maiden Call-Up for West Indies Series

On Wednesday BCCI announced Team India’s squad for upcoming T20 and ODI series. And young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was rewarded with a maiden India call-up for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies.

Bishnoi had impressed one and all with his bowling for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2020 and continued his performance for the franchise in the IPL 2021 as well. This was a well-earned reward for his consistency with the ball. India try out different combination, especially with wrist-spinners. Notably India had great success with wrist spinners but from the white-ball series against England at home, the famous Kul-Cha pair was dropped after a string of poor performances.

While, senior wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav also returned to the white ball set up after a knee surgery. “Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback and Ravi Bishnoi is the new face in the team for West Indies series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma,” a senior BCCI source told.

Meanwhile, Bishnoi was also announced as the third draft pick for the new Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants with a Rs 4 crore contract for IPL 2022. After getting picked for the national squad for the upcoming home series against West Indies, Bishnoi recalled how Anil Kumble helped him along the way.

Ravi Shastri on Dhoni –  He still doesn’t have Dhoni’s phone number

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has revealed that Dhoni doesn’t carry a mobile phone with him always and that if he wants, he can stay away from gadgets for quite some time. 

Shastri and Dhoni shared India’s dtrssing room for many years. While speaking with former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar in a video on his YouTube channel, Shastri shed light on the personality of MS Dhoni, saying he’s never met anyone like him. Shastri spoke about Dhoni’s temperament being amazingly calm no matter what the result of his performance. 

‘MS Dhoni was unreal. I have never seen a guy like him in my life. Whether he makes a zero or a 100, or lift a World Cup or get knocked out in the first round, it never mattered to him. I promise you, I have seen a lot of players but none like Dhoni. I have seen even Sachin Tendulkar. Fantastic temperament but sometimes gets angry but this guy never gets angry. He didn’t care,’ said Shastri on Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel.

“If he can avoid having the phone in hand, he can avoid having the phone in hand. Till today, I don’t have his number. I have never asked for his number. I know he doesn’t carry his phone with him. When you want to get in touch with him, you know how to get in touch with him. He is that kind of a person,” Shastri added.

IPL 2022 : Shardul Thakur askes his budget ahead of IPL mega auction

The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. A total of 1214 cricketers have registered for the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction. It includes 896 Indians and 318 overseas players.

With two new teams joining the competition, it has raised the bar as well as the expectations of the fans. Players are also excited about this, including Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur. Meanwhile, with the upcoming auction is around the corner, former CSK player Shardul Thakur asked his India teammates Yuzvendra Chahal and KL Rahul an interesting question. Shardul asked “what is my budget ? “

In response, Rahul says base price. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal jokingly says that God does not have a budget bro. However , the Maharashtra-born all-rounder has been in top form with the ball and the bat. He would be in high demand at the auction. India vs West Indies: India’s squad For the T20I and ODI series

BCCI has announced India’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against the West Indies. Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday picked an 18-member squad. Rohit Sharma is back as skipper for the ODI and T20 series against the West Indies.

However, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested from the series along with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who will be nursing his injury. Ravindra Jadeja will also not be available for the ODIs and T20Is beacause he undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury.  KL Rahul will be available from 2nd ODI onwards. 

February 6 onwards at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. Three ODIs
set to play at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from 6th February followed by the T20I series at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata from 16th February.

Aakash Chopra reckons David Warner might not be the hottest pick at the IPL 2022 auction

IPL 2022 will be an exciting edition with the addition of two new teams and a mega auction ahead of the upcoming season. Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the two new teams to be added to the roster of the tournament in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. 

A total of 1214 cricketers, including 270 capped players, 312 uncapped players have registered for the mega auction. However former India opener Aakash Chopra doesn’t believe that all IPL franchises would go hammer and tongs for David Warner as the Australian opener lost his old mojo.

“The first name that comes to mind is David Warner. Warner will be expensive, he will be in demand. But I’ve heard that Lucknow (Lucknow Super Giants) were not even keen on him. We thought he would open with Rahul. Hyderabad let him go. I don’t think Chennai will even think about Warner. I’m not 100 percent certain that Mumbai will consider him,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“I’m not saying he won’t be expensive. People will go after him. It could be Delhi, Punjab, or Ahmedabad for all we know. But I think his goodwill has taken a hit. He has scored a lot of runs, he’s a good player. But I don’t think anyone will look at him as a captain. As opener, he might fetch money but will he go for ₹15-16-17 crores? I don’t think so.” Chopra added.

Warner was previously associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad but things went awry in the last season as he was sacked from captaincy mid-season and eventually dropped from the XI. Also, his social media interactions pointed out that the relations between him and the franchise ended as sour.

Tollywood star Allu Arjun-Pushpa: The Rise has not only become an overnight blockbuster but has also become a trendsetter with star cricketers including the likes of David Warner , Ravindra Jadeja, and Shikhar Dhawan seen mimicking the Tollywood star on several occasions.

After Australian opener David Warner, who is renowned for his humorous viral videos did the ‘Pushpa walk” West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo has also copied the steps of Allu Arjun’s famous song. Taking to his official social media handles, DJ Bravo opted for a white tee and bright yellow shorts paired to perform the Srivalli dance challenge.

In the caption, he tagged Warner and Suresh Raine, who also tried out the trend, and wrote, ”Going with the trend!! ” @davidwarner31 @sureshraina3 how did I do!! Warner was quick to reply to him as he commented, ”Haha legend, ” you’re the man brother”.

DJ Bravo had earlier shared a video of him dancing to the song dubbed “Pushpa Walk”, but this time, he has paid tribute to Allu Arjun yet again on the cricket field. In the BPL match between Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barishal on Tuesday Bravo had bowled a length delivery on the middle and leg stump line as to Mahidul Islam. While he got the timing right, it failed to get the distance as Najmul Hossain Shanto completed a good catch in the deep. After picking up a vital wicket in the death overs, the two-time World Cup winner performed hook step of Allu Arjun from Srivalli song.

Yuvraj Singh and his wife Hazel Keech blessed with a baby boy : Twitter reacts

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and his wife Hazel Keech welcomed their first child, a boy, on Tuesday. The couple took to their social media handles to share the big news and also requested the media to respect their privacy.

Taking to Twitter Yuvraj wrote, “To all our fans, family and friends, we are elated to share that God blessed us with a baby boy. We thank God for this blessing and wish you to respect our privacy as we welcome the little one into the world, Love Hazel and Yuvraj “. Yuvraj and actress Hazel Keech got married on November 30, 2016. The baby boy is their first child together.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh congratulated Yuvraj Singh and wife Hazel Keech, after the couple got blessed with a baby boy. Taking to Twitter, Harbhajan wrote in Punjabi, Congratulations to the boy’s father and mother, very happy for you both.”

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif extended his warm wishes to the lucky parents and wrote, “Warmest wishes to the lucky parents. Bahut bahut mubarak bhai.”

IND vs WI Series: Rohit Sharma to lead, rest for Jasprit Bumrah

India will host West Indies for a three match ODI and three match T20 series from February 06-February 20 after returning from South Africa. The IND vs WI ODI series will be played from 6 February in Ahmedabad.

According to report, Rohit Sharma Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja are set to return to India’s squad for the limited-overs series against  West Indies. The national selection panel, headed by former India pacer Chetan Sharma, is set to pick the squad this week for three ODIs and three T20Is. However, the team selection meeting, which is set to happen this week, will be an interesting one as some senior players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin, after their indifferent performance against South Africa in their 0-3 ODI series defeat, will come under the scanner.

Meanwhile, having recovered from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss India’s tour to South Africa, Rohit will formally take charge of India’s ODI squad in the series opener. “Rohit is fit and available for the series against the West Indies,” a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity. By the time, the West Indies series starts, it will be more than seven and half weeks of rehabilitation and recuperation for Rohit. He is already training in Mumbai and is expected to be in Bangalore for the fitness test and get a formal okay from the National Cricket Academy,” the BCCI source informed.
Notably Jasprit Bumrah played every game on the SA tour and is likely to be rested. Mohammed Shami, who was rested for SA ODIs, is expected to be back for the series.
